This tutorial presentation aims at introducing program leaders and volunteers around the world to better ways to communicate their activity. Many wikimedians come to great ideas, plan and implement them in a great way but no one else hears about, other than those involved in the activity. This tutorial will try to cover the following questions and points:
- How event organizers can reach out to bigger audience and the right audience.
- How can they make use of other experiences done by other leaders in the movement.
- How the plans and ideas of a project could be available for others around the world to implement in the easiest and best way.
- In this presentation I will introduce the new updated handbook of Wikipedia Education Program visual identity. (See the existing edition before the updates here)
The session will also include an introduction to the Wikimedia blog and who can participate in writing it and how to do so, what are the topics that fit for a blog post and how to introduce it to the larger Wikimedia community and the world.
This Month In Education is the monthly education newsletter written by the community to everyone with monthly updates of Wikipedia in Education around the world. Until now, not all programs post their updates to the monthly newsletter regularly and not everyone in the movement is aware of other success stories achieved everywhere. This tutorial will include a short introduction on participation in it.
The session will be divided into two parts. In the first one the speaker will explain the available resources to support programs, leaders, educators and help organizers communicate with the wiki movement around the world. The second part will be dedicated to attendees when they can ask any questions they have and participate in the discussion with any experiences they had in communicating Wikipedia Education Program and similar activities.
