- Abstract
Writers of Wikipedia pages from developing countries are always at a disadvantage when it comes to educating the world in terms of the way they write. Wikipedia writers across the world entertain and educate with the way their articles are written. It is true that when a writer is exposed, equipped, supported and made comfortable, they write better. Writers in developing countries lack in this aspect by a wider margin. In Nigeria for instance, writers of Wikipedia articles present skeletal information in their articles which are poorly sourced, experience has shown. This has seriously lowered the standard and quality of this "free encyclopedia", leading to many stubs. The proposal attempts to draw attention on the need to devise ways of training Wikipedia writers in countries such as Nigeria in order that they will conform with the mark of quality and standard with which Wikipedia authors are known for, world over. It is hoped that after training an individual in this Wikimania 2015, the trainee will spread the acquired training in their respective countries thereby, keeping the standard. The trainee will be motivated by attending events such as Wikimania 2015 and listen to live discussions, contributions, recommendations and presentations. This will mean the individual will know the aim of the encyclopedia and transfer same to their country of representation. Subsequently, Wikimania events can be held across the world.
